Cook County Recorder of Deeds Karen A. Yarbrough wants to educate all Cook County property owners about fraud, and is kicking off an effort to ensure that immigrant communities where English is not a first language receive this important information.
On Tuesday, November 26th, a special Property Fraud Awareness Seminar will be held for the suburban Latino community, and a similar event is planned for December 3 in Chicago’s Polish Community. In the coming months, more events will be held for our county’s diverse immigrant communities.
At Tuesday’s event, concerned homeowners will be able to meet their Recorder of Deeds and receive important information about property fraud in Spanish. Bilingual staff will also be on hand to answer questions and help sign residents up for CCRD’s Free Property Fraud Alert.
The event will be held on Tuesday, November 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mariella’s Banquets, 124 S. 5th Avenue, in Maywood. The event is free and no RSVP is required. Residents are encouraged to bring their property PIN number, but if not available, staff can find this number on your behalf.
